REpower Systems, a group company of Suzlon India and a wind turbine manufacturing company, has declared the signing of an agreement with Denker and Wulf AG a German based wind farm developer to install, manage and maintain a 74.8 MW wind power farm. Denker and Wulf currently have an installed capacity of 730 MW and the company is more focused in re-powering and operational management.
REpower will use 3.4M104 type of wind turbines each with a rated capability of 3.5 MW for the project. The company will install the wind turbines with a hub height of 128 M over a concrete base and use steel hybrid towers. The agreement includes providing a total service package covering delivery and installation of wind turbines, and servicing and maintenance of wind turbines for a period of 15 years. The project is anticipated to be accomplished by the year 2012.
Jens Müller-Nielsen, REpower’s Managing Director, said that the starting of the German subsidiary company indicated the intention of the company to make inroads in the domestic wind market of Germany. The entering of the supply accord amply exemplifies the capability of REpower’s 3.4M104 wind turbine. Torsten Levsen, Denker and Wulf’s CEO, said that from the year 2001 REpower Systems AG has provided around 960 wind turbines with a total output capacity of 1,620 MW. He added that the fully owned auxiliary company REpower Systems GmbH offering a sales and project management package for the important wind markets of Germany and Austria will ultimately improve its market stake and grow considerably during the coming years.
