Air Products and Chemicals Inc, an Allentown PA based company, declared that it has selected Blue Sky Solar a provider of large format solar modules and turnkey solar energy systems to install 2 MW solar farm over its corporate headquarters in the US.
Blue Sky Solar has chosen Newkirk Electric Associates to complete the electrical and mechanical structures required for the project.
Blue Sky Solar has disclosed its designs to install silicon, tandem thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solar panels provided by Astroenergy and ENN Solar who are regular clients of Air Products. Astroenergy and ENN Solar will utilize SunSource Solutions a total range of equipment and services, gases and materials offered by Air Products in the production of their silicon thin-film solar panels. Air Products has already completed some of the basic engineering works such as preparing an optimal sized solar turf with inverter connectivity. The facility is well equipped to produce 2 MW of clean power in contrast to the earlier announcement of 1.5 MW. The solar power production will lessen the reliance of the company on electricity provided by utility companies and will reduce approximately 2,000 tons of its CO2 emissions every year. The power produced by its solar farm is enough to meet nearly 50% of the total energy requirement of its administrative offices.
David Tavianini, the company’s global PV marketing manager, said that the SunSource Solutions offered to the PV producers will enable them to augment their production and will help them to reduce the cost-per-watt expense to allow them near grid parity. He added that his company is happy to increase its growth in the US solar market. He expressed his pleasure in constructing a silicon thin-film installation that will be rated one among the largest in the country.
