Rowland Technologies and Arkema Introduce a Revolutionary PVDF Technology for Producing PV Modules

Rowland Technologies Inc and Arkema Inc have declared that a new PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) film exclusively manufactured for the front-sheet usages in PV modules is available for commercial use.

The Rowlar is the result of mixing sophisticated film designing and power producing potentialities of Rowland Technologies and good functional traits of patented Kynar PVDF from Arkema Inc in the manufacturing of PV front sheets. Kynar used as a building surface coating for a number of years has displayed good weather resistance properties to withstand the grueling Florida weather conditions for nearly 40 years. The end product Rowlar is said to have properties such as increased solar transmittance, good UV resistance features, resists abrasion, withstands fire and chemical onslaughts, possess superior capability to prevent entry of oxygen and moisture and fits with the encapsulates perfectly.

The Rowlar is lightweight and flexible in nature and can be used over a broad category of ordinary gloss and low level glare surfaces effectively. The product is translucent in nature and inherits lower level of deflective properties than an ordinary glass thus allowing the modules to function coolly without increased temperature inside. The product is more clear than any ETFE film and provides nearly 56% more resistance against abrasion and costs less. The film available from Rowland under a signed accord with Arkema is offered in a wide range of thicknesses, surface textures and widths to match different configurations, design and production needs.
