Southwestern Scale Uses Solar Power to Operate the Scales

Southwestern Scale a dealer of B-TEK Scales LLC, a company known for innovative technology implementation in their truck scale products, has come out with a solar solution to tide over the power problem at its Scale site near the mines. The Phoenix Arizona based company grabbed the opportunity to install a number of truck weighing scales that use solar power.

The company has installed digital scales with  length x and width measurement of 25 feet x 18 feet and incorporated the D-800 type of indicators. The scales are basically utilized for weighing CAT 769 and CAT 775 type of haul trucks. Touch panel type of PC computers were installed at the weighing positions with compatible software. The company faced problems in installing the solar panels at a place with maximum wind velocity during the summer rains. It chose and designed tubes to withstand the weight of the solar panels as well as the adverse weather conditions.

B-TEK Scales LLC continuously upgrades its scale products to suit the changing technology. The company first created an all stainless steel fabricated truck scale to manage corrosion effects. Its latest product is an all digital Centurion truck scale the first of its type in North America.
