Environmental Initiatives Win H+H Business of the Year Award

H+H UK has been named Kent Environmental Business of the Year: taking the overall winning position in 2010 having won awards in previous years for specific initiatives.

The Award recognises the range of activity the company undertakes to continually monitor and improve its environmental performance. In particular, during 2009 H+H UK was the first UK company to be awarded a ‘very good’ rating at all sites for all products, under the BES 6001:2008 Responsible Sourcing Initiative from the Building Research Establishment (BRE).

H+H also operates to ISO 14001 at all manufacturing sites, is certified with the Carbon Trust Standard and in 2010 achieved a top ten position in the Sunday Times Best Green Companies index.

Targets are set each year for reducing carbon emissions, water and power usage and waste production. The company has a clear commitment to be an industry leader in environmental and sustainability issues and it is the all-round attention to this goal that impressed the Kent judges.

The panel’s verdict was clear: “Year after year, H+H UK Ltd continually improve their environment performance through their well managed Environmental Management System... H+H have shown continued dedication to operating sustainably and their certification to BES 6001 demonstrated their commitment to the environment and their willingness to deliver more than is expected.”
