Fluor to Construct Two Solar Plants for Elecnor S.A. in Spain

Fluor Corporation declared that it has signed a deal with Elecnor S.A. for providing engineering services to two new 50 MW solar plants located in Alcazar de San Juan Spain. The company has signed the contract for an undisclosed value. The company has been offering engineering services to Elecnor S.A since 2009.

Fluor will offer both basic and elaborate engineering and other connected services for the solar project which is currently in progress. For the purpose of providing services at the location, the company has engaged its operational facilities at Asturias and Madrid in Spain and its Californian operations center will provide lead services for all the operations. The plant will feature a concentrated solar power (CSP) facility and parabolic trough mirrors for increased heat generation which in turn will be used to run a steam turbine generator and produce power. The construction of the plant is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2011.

Dave Dunning, Fluor’s Power Group President, said that the selection of his company by Elecnor shows their confidence in the performance of his company. He added that two on going CSP projects in Badajoz has helped the company to secure the contract. Brad Friesen, who works as Vice President for Fluor’s renewables business line, said that the company will stay on with its expansions in CSP as well as in utility scale photovoltaic (PV) areas globally and expressed his confidence on the performance of his company offering best value to its renewable energy clients.
