US Solar Installations to Double their Capacity Reaching 1 GW by 2010

Evolution Solar Corp (EVSO) was excited about a report released by GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association, at a trade show and conference in Los Angeles the Solar Power International, stating that U.S. Solar Installations in 2010 would be producing double the capacity than 2009’s 441 MW amounting to 1GW of new capacity;

Robert Hines, CEO and President, EVSO, revealed that the report disclosed information about  solar energy gaining grounds by leaps and bounds in the USA as the US Public Policy had changed with a tendency to lean towards solar power. Due to a federal investment tax credit for renewable energy that would remain till the year 2016 the local solar industry remains healthy, in spite of the slump in the overall economy. California was found to be the leader in solar capacity in the first half of 2010 followed by other states such as Florida, Arizona and New Jersey.

Hines further stated that as more and more innovative technology is being used in solar installations and electricity generation using Photovoltaic (PV) cells have become more affordable and that the price gap between power generation from conventional fuels, and that generated from solar power would shrink considerably. Several jobs, to the tune of thousands are being created throughout the country because of the development of the cleaner, renewable energy industry.

EVSO is collaborating with  Texas Southern University in Houston, in establishing eight AmpleSun thin-film PV panels inside the campus proposed to function as a foundation of the newly planned TSU Green Technology Center. This project would be EVSO’s first foray in utilizing AmpleSun Panels in the U.S. A solar demonstration project was also newly created by EVSO in Texas’ City of Brookshire bringing EVSO in line with other energy industry giants such as First Solar, Xilinx, Altera Corp, Exxon Mobile Corp.
