Pavillion Energy Resources is a 40% shareholder and a partner in a New Jersey 1100 MW offshore wind farm that would hook up through the AWC (Atlantic Wind Connection) Grid.
The AWC requires involvement by wind farm developers and PVRE would be the first project to align with the AWC Grid, which is backed by Google. This project eliminates cost barriers by facilitating PVRE’s planned wind farm to be constructed for much less than what was anticipated.
This project is expected to be the leading offshore wind farm in the U.S. with the dimensions of a nuclear power plant and a generation capacity of around $500 million clean wind energy annually that is adequate to provide power to 300,000 homes in New Jersey and also take care of Google’s data center’s power requirements. Electricity is exorbitantly priced in New Jersey with a rate of 15 cents/kWh and therefore this project would assist in reducing the cost of power, giving relief to the consumers and also decrease power blackouts.
Pavillion intends to utilize the Accelerated Wind Technology, which would help in spectacularly reducing the costs involved in offshore wind production from the current 12-14 cents/kWh to 5-8 cents/kWh, which would be even cheaper than fossil fuels fulfilling Google’s goal of decreasing renewable energy costs.
