Dinwiddie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Petersburg, VA, managed by Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, has become energy efficient with the inclusion of a solar energy system. The 60-bed nursing facility will find over 15% reduction in its annual water heating expenses.
Commonwealth Care utilized the NoCapEx program to associate with SolTherm to incorporate a solar hot water system without any capital investment. SolTherm has established this program by capitalizing on the tax credits produced by the solar energy systems and offers them as a package to tax credit investors. SolTherm has installed a 32 panel solar thermal facility for the healthcare center. The generated solar thermal facility will allow the healthcare center to save over $149,000 on its energy costs over a 15 year agreement period. The health care center will pay only for the solar power generated from the facility at pre-fixed rates for the period of usage.
David Tucker, Chief Operating Officer of Commonwealth Care, said that the NoCapEx program of SolTherm offered them a facility within their budget limits and allowed them an occasion to utilize the savings on the health care of its patients. Scott Clark, Chief Strategy Officer of SolTherm, said that the conclusion of Commonwealth Care to join the NoCapEx program of SolTherm will be advantageous to Commonwealth care and the decision amply shows the care shown by the company towards its patients.
