Solyndra, a manufacturer of cylindrical PV systems for large-scale commercial rooftops, declared that its partner Alwitra has concluded installing a 1.02MWp Solyndra solar system with advanced reflective Evalon waterproofing membrane and Solyndra solar panels, in a Germany warehouse located in Konz and owned by Parts Europe, a motorcycle accessories distributor. This system is Germany’s largest Solyndra installation and the second largest in the world.
According to Clemens Jargon, Managing Director, Solyndra and President of EMEA, the warehouse with a huge rooftop area benefits greatly from the highly reflective Evalon waterproofing membrane and Solyndra’s power generation. He also mentioned that the project in totality was completed in less than 10 days, due to Solyndra’s PV systems, and Alwitra’s expertise in roof sealing.
Joachim Gussner, Alwitra’s President stated that Solyndra’s unique cylindrical design and light panels are ideal for a warehouse of this size. Merging Solyndra and Evalon membrane provides the owner an ideal arrangement, resulting in increased power generation mainly due to the reflecting nature of the roof.
Parts Europe warehouse covers 10,700 m2 of rooftop area with solar panels, and another 13,000 m2 with Evalon membrane. The project also utilized 33,000 m of cable, generating 1.023 MWp, which is equal to powering 250 houses.
