SCHOTT Solar, Consolidated Solar Technologies Power Los Lunas High School

SCHOTT Solar PV and Consolidated Solar Technologies have enabled the Los Lunas High School to go green with a 50kW photovoltaic (PV) solar energy system. The system installed over the parking lot of the school has received funding at the initiative of the Governor, Bill Richardson, from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The school involved its students in the initial assessments, preparations and other computations that are necessary to apply for the grant.

Consolidated Solar Technologies (CST) has installed the solar system comprising SCHOTT POLY solar modules for the school. The installed system is expected to afford about $20,000 as annual savings for the school. The solar modules will be connected to a real time monitoring facility at the school, to allow the students, to monitor the amount of solar energy generated by the system.

Tom Hecht, SCHOTT Solar’s President and Chief Sales Officer, said that his company wanted the solar industry to grow in Albuquerque as well as in the country utilizing its high value solar modules. He expressed his happiness to associate with Consolidated Solar Technologies in the clean energy project of the school and said that both the companies can make use of the copious sun energy in New Mexico for more such businesses creating local job opportunities.

Mike Mattioli, CST’s Managing Director, thanked the receptive association with SCHOTT Solar, which helped his company to complete the installation in a record time well before the planned date.
