Denmark, the First Country in Europe to Open Biofuel Gas Stations

Denmark has become the first country in the world to introduce biofuel gas stations. The country has brought in a new biofuel prepared from wheat straw for running the cars. The new fuel launched by Statoil, a Norway-based company, at over 100 outlets in Denmark is a mix of 5% wheat straw biofuel and 95% gasoline. The new mix is found to be as good as 100% gasoline.

The technology for the biofuel production is developed and provided by Novozymes, a known biofuel developing company in Denmark. The company has provided the required enzymes for the production of biofuel. The new biofuel is said to have high potential and its large scale implementation will lead to creation of more job opportunities and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while allowing Europe to achieve energy freedom.

Steen Riisgaard, Novozymes CEO, said that the new biofuel is let into the market with a vision of the clean energy future. He sought the support of the government and the policy makers to bring in necessary amendments to enable the society and the people to benefit from the invention.
