American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) announced the creation of a new association called the Distributed Wind Energy Association (DWEA). DWEA will address on education, and support in promoting the on-site consumption and generation of distributed wind energy.
DWEA will work on the expansion of AWEA’s efforts that comprise the support for the federal and state levels for distributed wind, and an annual statistical report. Distributed wind systems are mid-sized and small turbines that produce electricity for business or homes. Jennifer Jenkins will serve as the Executive Director of the new association. DWEA will be an event partner in the 2010 AWEA Small and Community Wind Conference and Exposition, in Oregon, from December 7 to 9, 2010.
Distributed wind systems minimize energy imports and pollution, generate local jobs, save fuel, avoid electric rate hikes, and minimize operating expenses. The industry is showing significant development with improvement in business opportunities.
Denise Bode, the CEO of AWEA, stated that the coalition could bring more focus on the distributed wind energy sector. He added that distributed wind is an effective way to produce clean energy.
