Under the deal, Gulf City Solar will distribute the solar kit that will be used to power the golf carts. The solar panel is made of a pliable thin film and can be fixed on top of the golf cart by using a double-sided tape. The panel can be removed easily and does not leave any trace on the golf cart. The solar panel weighs approximately nine pounds.

Majority of kits available in the market utilize heavy-glass panels to harness the solar energy. Such kits can require the necessity to replace the golf cart roof. The solar kit offered by Gulf City Solar is 30% more efficient when compared to other kits.

The executive vice president of Gulf City Solar, Hans Holzmann informed that solar panels should be installed on golf carts using new batteries. Generally, golf cart batteries can last for one- to one-half-years. However, if the solar panel is used on a new cart, sulfation will not occur and the batteries can last for more than six years.
