Problems Ahead for Clean and Green Policies

The results of the national elections on Tuesday and subsequent advance of Republican politicians will make it even more difficult for the U.S. clean energy industry over the coming years. However with the Governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick being re-elected the state should not have a problem with its growing cleantech cluster.

With more Republicans coming to power in the national elections the states will also find it tough to encourage green technologies. Especially since national policies to reduce carbon emissions and stimulate alternative fuels will be difficult to foster.

At the Sixth Annual Conference on Clean Energy at Boston's Hynes Convention Centre experts declared that it was going to become more and more difficult to make clean and green policies convert into action given the election results.

Melanie Kenderine, the executive director of the MIT Energy Initiative said that the policy via mandates is going to have serious problems in the House of Representatives and the Senate. She also said that there were leaders in the House and Senate who are serious climate denier and that was very problematic.
