EDF Energies Nouvelles Commissions Burnfoot Hill Wind Farm

EDF Energies Nouvelles, a green power production company, has declared the commissioning of the 26 MW Burnfoot Hill wind farm, situated in central Scotland in the north-west direction from Edinburgh, in Clackmannanshire.

The Burnfoot Hill wind farm is built by EDF Energy Renewables, a joint venture owned by EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles, with 50% equity from each company. The wind farm incorporates 13 wind turbines each with a production capability of 2 MW to produce a total of 26 MW power. The wind turbines are provided by Repower, a German manufacturing company. The wind energy produced by the wind farm will generate enough power to meet the power requirements of around 20,000 households.

With the commissioning of the wind farm project, the total wind energy installations of the company has increased to 227.2 MW. The company though focused on wind energy power generation for a number of years has recently entered into solar photovoltaic power production, while continuing its presence in biogas, biofuel, biomass, marine energy and in small-sized hydro power generation projects.
