Energy Institute at the University of Delaware to Experience Solar Power

The Energy Institute at the University of Delaware, which is nicknamed as Center for Excellence in solar study, by the government of USA and hosting the oldest solar lab in the USA is going to experience solar power for the first time.

The planned solar installation which is expected to generate around 1 MB solar energy per year will provide solar power to the university that was teaching  the benefits of solar energy for nearly 40 years. The array of solar panels that are currently undergoing installation over the warped roof top of the Delaware Field House along with the other panels installed over the Newark campus will allow the university to save over $30,000 per year on current energy costs. With the anticipated rise in costs the savings will go up to $60,000 per year.

Steve Hegedus, a research scholar from the University, said that he and other researchers at times felt frustrated with the absence of solar panels. He added that though the solar panels are getting installed now with more power it took too long a time to come.
