Foster Wheeler to Provide Supply Solar Steam Generator System to a Solar Plant in UAE

Foster Wheeler, a Switzerland-based power equipment supplying company, declared that an auxiliary company of its Global Power Group has contracted an accord to design and provide a solar steam generator system for a solar plant situated in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The solar steam generator system to be provided by the company includes the necessary drum-type evaporators, pre-heaters and super-heaters. The company will also provide advisory services at the site and provide other equipment such as steel structures, primary I and C, valves and interconnecting piping. The equipment supplied by the company will be installed in the solar thermal power plant that utilizes concentrated parabolic trough technology. The proposed plant is expected to generate an output of 100 MWe. The company has received the schedule for the delivery of the requisite products and the delivery is anticipated to commence from third quarter of 2011.

Eric Svendsen, who leads Foster Wheeler Energia,  as CEO, declared that the proposed solar thermal power plant symbolizes the opening of renewable energy development in the region as well as an important development for the UAE. He added that the choice of solar steam generation equipment for the plant signifies the confidence of the client in his company’s technology and products.
