CIRCOR Energy Signs Accord with London Array for Offshore Wind Project

CIRCOR International, a supplier of valves, subsystems, engineered products and energy related products, declared that Pipeline Engineering, an auxiliary company of its Energy Products Group, has contracted a £7.75 accord with London Array.

Pipeline Engineering will provide its patented system to safeguard export and array cables connecting its 175 offshore wind turbines with two of its offshore and one onshore substation locations.

The proposed London Array wind farm set to become the largest offshore wind farm in the world will be located around 12 miles off the shores of Kent and Essex in the external Thames estuary. The turbine towers and the substations of the offshore wind farm are interlinked utilizing sub-sea array and sub-sea export cables. Pipeline Engineering will utilize its exclusive PEFLEX Cable Protection System, whose patent is pending to protect the cables. The system while allowing easy and faster installation of the facility considerably reduces the costs. The company is currently engaged in building a purpose-built manufacturing cell that comprise the new Lean Manufacturing Process for managing the project at its head offices located in Catterick, North East of England.

The offshore wind farm comprise of a total of 341 wind turbines. On completion the offshore wind project will supply 1 GW of electricity, which is enough to power nearly 750,000 homes in Greater London.
