Dokie Wind Power Project Commences Operations in British Columbia

Dokie Wind Power Project, a joint venture between Plutonic Power and GE Energy Financial Services, has commenced operations.

This project is British Columbia’s largest wind power unit and is located almost 1100 km to the north east of Vancouver, close to Chetwynd. It will sell the energy generated during the commissioning process before the commercial operating date, to a subsidiary company of BL Hydro, Powerex. The project was acquired by Plutonic and GE a year ago, and since then 48 wind turbines have been procured and erected by Mortenson Canada, the Project’s Procurement and construction contractor. Nine turbines are available for operation having completed final commissioning and testing. Transmission and substation lines have also been implemented and energized.

Early 2011 is the anticipated date of commencing operations.

The GE and Plutonic joint alliance have also developed the East Toba River Montrose Creek Hydro Electric Project in British Columbia. GE Energy provides the technical innovation, expertise, risk management and financial assistance to facilitate the development of renewable energy projects, to meet the world’s energy needs.
