Seven Companies Chosen for 479 MW Solar Generation Units

Under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) has chosen seven companies, who have tendered bids for the Solar Power projects to be implemented.

A total solar power generation capability of 479 MW is to be achieved from these solar projects, on the basis of  concentrated solar Power (CSP) for the project’s first phase.

NVVN being the nodal agency implementing the first phase of the program, has chosen Lanco, Reliance Power and KVK Energy to develop 100 MW capacity plants each, while 50 MW capacity units are to be installed by Megha Engineering, Corporate Ispat and Godavari Power. Avum Renewables will develop a 29 MW unit.

Letters of Intent (LOI) would be sent to the selected companies by the end of December 2010, and by the month of February 2011, Power Purchase Agreements would be signed by these companies. These companies should be able to realize financial closure within a period of six months and the projects are to be commissioned inside two years from the specific date of the financial closure.

Most of the projects would be in Rajasthan with a few in Andhra Pradesh
