Vesta Wind System has acquired an order from Argentina for supplying 43V90-1.8 MW wind turbines (77 MW), to be erected in the Rawson I and II wind farm situated outside Rawson, in Chubut, Province of Argentine, Patagonia.
The order obtained from a National and International Public tender, incorporates transportation, delivery, commissioning and installation of the turbine along with a maintenance and service contract for a five year period and a Vestas Online Business SCADA system. The turbines would be delivered in batches starting from the first half of 2011 and would continue up to Jan 2012.
These turbines were ordered by an Argentine company Emgasud, which is one of the foremost investors in clean projects in the country, and also generates power, distributes and transports natural gas all over the country. According to Alejandro Ivanisevich, Emgasud’s President, the company’s commitment to renewable energy development leading to environment protection was well known, and hence a plan for acquiring cutting-edge technologies was created for the wind power units. He stated that the company had full confidence in Vestas Solutions and was certain that the state-of-art technology with the high quality standards would benefit the wind turbines.
According to Juan Araluce, Vestas Mediterranean President, the new Argentinean project would help in their expansion plans in the Latin American region. He hoped that this would be the start of a long term relationship with another company deeply committed to developing wind and renewable energy. This plant would produce around 320 GWh annually, saving almost 100,000 tons of CO2 emission and powering 150,000 homes in Argentina.
