Vestas to Supply 20 Units of V82-1.65 MW Wind Turbine to Orient Green Power

Vestas, a Danish wind turbine producer, has received an order from Orient Green Power, a wind power generating company located in Tamil Nadu, India, to provide 20 units of its V82-1.65 MW wind turbines for a wind farm in Vellappaneri, Tamil Nadu. Beta Wind Farm, a fully-owned auxiliary company of Orient Green Power, has placed the order.

According to the agreement Vestas, in addition to providing and erecting of wind turbines at the location, will also monitor the wind turbine functions through its online business SCADA system. The company will provide continuous maintenance and service for a period of 10 years. Vestas is planning to commence the delivery of wind turbines from the last quarter of 2010 and is anticipating to complete the installation and commissioning in the second quarter of 2011.

Currently, Orient Green Power produces a total of 152.6 MW power from its wind farms and the company is in course of augmenting 300 MW in its power generation capability in 2011.
