The Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Installation (CSTPS) is to be fitted out with one more solar plant with 4 MW capacity due to Mahagenco’s (Maharashtra State Power Generation) efforts.
The construction contracts have been offered to two companies, each constructing a 2 MW plant. Hyderabad’s Megha Engineering and Infrastructure is one of the companies and this 2MW thin film technology plant would need 18 acres of land and an investment of Rs. 24 crore. The other contract has been awarded to Mumbai’s Instant Energy for constructing a 2 MW crystalline technology project valued at Rs. 25 crore needing 5 hectares of land. The contract costs also include three years of operation and maintenance.
An important meeting between the domestic stakeholders and Mahagenco executives brought forth their agreement for the installation of this grid interactive solar plant whose construction is planned to be completed by nine months. The meeting was attended by the Sarpanch of Ambora village Tajne along with a group of villagers, field officer of MPCB Lohiya, Arunkumar Sahare, the Tehsildar, S U Gohotre, the CGM of SCTPS, the Project CGM B K Yadav and the Executive Director of Mahagenco, M G Waghmode. The approval was forthcoming after the officials elucidated the value of a solar plant and its pivotal role in controlling global warming by decreasing green gas discharges. The cost of these power plants is much more than the conventional power plants and hence the Indian Government gives a susbsidy.
