Alstom to Provide Hydropower Equipment for Arkun Hydro Plant

Enerjisa Power Generation Company, partnership venture of Turkish Sabanci Holding and AustrianVerbund, contracted an accord with Alstom to provide, install and commission the required electro-mechanical equipment for the proposed Arkun hydropower plant to be located over Coruh River in Turkey.

As per the conditions of the signed accord, Alstom will design and provide the three 76.6-MW vertical Francis hydropower turbines required for the project. The company will also supply its three generators, inlet valves, control system, the switchyard required for the plant and other equipment needed to complete the installation. The contracted amount of the project is not divulged.

In terms of production capability, the proposed 236 MW power project when completed will remain as the biggest hydro power generation plant owned by the Enerjisa Power Generation. The Arkun hydropower plant will offer 800 GWh of electricity to Turkey to provide power to approximately 460,000 houses.
