Enel Green Power Establishes Wind Farm in Romania

ENEL Green Power’s Agighiol Wind Farm began operating in Valea Nucarilor Municipality in Romania near Tulcea city. This wind farm has 17 turbines with a 2 MW capacity each totaling up to 34 MW. This project would produce around 100 million kWh annually powering over 35,000 homes and reduce CO2 emissions of almost 70,000 tons annually.

According to Francesco Starace, Enel’s CEO, this project was the beginning of the company’s generation in Romania. It also has a number of projects, which are in the construction phase and they would increase their market presence in the forthcoming two years.

At 2009, the Romanian installed wind capacity was 14 MW and it would reach 600 MW by 2010 and 3600 MW by 2015. Enel group established in 2005 in Romania is currently the foremost private investor in the electricity sector catering to 2.6 million clients employing 5000 people and operating networks covering almost 93000 kms.
