New World Home, a sustainable housing developing company, is presently engaged in constructing the first of its kind NAHB Emerald factory-built and USGBC LEED Platinum residence for Christie Todd Whitman, former Governor of New Jersey and Head of EPA.
The residential project of the company will be the first house in the state to accomplish Platinum and Emerald certification without including any of the renewable energy sources such as wind turbines, geothermal systems and solar panels. The company is also pursuing other certifications such as EPA Indoor airPLUS, NAHB Emerald, and WaterSense certification for the house. The company follows a patented ‘whole-systems’ approach in the construction of homes and constantly achieves top level certifications in the construction industry. The home, when completed will conserve over 50% of its power consumption, thousands of gallons of water usage per year and will offer better indoor air quality when equated with normal home constructions. The company is planning to keep the home ready for occupation in the early part of March 2011.
Tyler Schmetterer, New World Home’s Co-Founder, has expressed his happiness to work on the project that will enable the company to accomplish further landmarks in residential building constructions. He was optimistic that the support of the former governor and the company’s commitment to clean environment will enable the project to create awareness over the advantages of utilizing green modular housing and induce more mainstream people to go for ready made constructions for building more energy friendly homes.
