Lumeta, a fully owned auxiliary of DRI Companies, declared that it has received TÜV InterCert certification for its trademarked PowerPly roof integrated photovoltaic (PV) solar module for complying with the set norms of IEC 61215 and IEC 61730.
The PowerPly 400Wp module, unlike the conventional modules that incorporate a mix of glass and aluminum structure, utilizes a combination of DuPont Tefzel frontal sheet and a weight less compound substrate along with power efficient monocrystalline silicon solar cells to increase power production. The design of the PowerPly system makes it convenient to fix it over low slope roofs without the need for a racking system thus removing the issues related to module weight and wind loading. The installation without roof drilling eliminates problematic issues such as roof maintenance and water leaks while saving on system costs and installation time. The Lumeta PowerPly modules are currently produced in the building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) production facility owned by Suntech Power Holdings in Wuxi, China.
Jonathan Pickering, Lumeta’s EVP and GM said that the PowerPly 400Wp module has brought in important changes in c-Si module expertise, which persisted unchanged for a number of years. He added that PowerPly with its high productive monocrystalline cells while achieving IEC certification also allows the flexibility of direct installation over the roof constructions.
Tim Davey, CEO of DRI Companies, the parent company of Lumeta, said that while achieving IEC is an important landmark for the company, the product also received worldwide appreciation for its light weight, wind resistant, power efficiency attributes and reduction in balance of system and installation costs.
