The City of Newburyport Solar Project completed by Ameresco, a provider of energy efficiency services and renewable energy solutions, has won the ‘Win with Canadian Solar’ contest and received $500 from Canadian Solar.
The 502 kW solar power project installed over the Rupert Nock Middle School in Newburyport, MA, incorporates 2,000 roof top solar panels. The installation was completed over the roof tops of Edward G. Molin Upper Elementary School, the Rupert Nock Middle School and the Department of Public Works Building (DPW) and commissioned in 2009. Since the time of its installation the project has produced enough clean energy to compensate the generation of over 402 tons of carbon dioxide every year, which can be equated to planting of around 8,000 new tree saplings. Ameresco also provided a lobby LCD panel in the Middle School with exclusive software to offer details such as weather over the rooftop, the power produced from the solar PV panels to the science class rooms of the students through the generation of online data.
The work at the Nock Middle School project, which was completed utilizing solar panels manufactured by Canadian solar, has won $500 from Canadian Solar. Ameresco along with Munro Solar, its jobbing partner in the contract, has added $1,000 to make a total donation of $1,500 to the City of Newburyport.
