Ram Power Completes Drilling at Orita No. 2 Geothermal Well

Ram Power, a company that sells electricity produced from geothermal sources, announced that it has completed drilling and flow testing of its Orita No. 2 well in the Imperial Valley, California.

The geothermal well was tested for flow with a maintained flow rate of about 500,000 pounds/hr at 155 psig, with a bottom hole temperature above 570¢ªF.

The leading geothermal consulting company in the western hemisphere, GeothermEx, has confirmed the results of the flow test. Ram Power expects the capacity of the well to be between 8 and 10 MW. As the salinity of the well is in the conventional range, there is no need for complicated power conversion technology and expensive casing.

The Orita No. 2 well confirms the presence of a high temperature fluid reservoir, which was found in the 1980s when Emanuelli No.1 well was drilled. Ram Power will drill the Emanuelli No.1 well location during the first quarter of 2011.
