Kyocera Chosen by Solar Power to Provide Solar Modules to Thailand

Kyocera Corporation declared that it has entered into an accord to provide 204 MW worth of one million solar modules for a large solar power generation project in Thailand. To reduce its reliance on fossil fuel generated power, the country is vigorously trying to implement alternative energy projects.

The country has implemented its feed-in-tariff program in 2007 and has recently unveiled its plans to implement 500 MW solar power generation by 2022.

The project being constructed by the Thailand-based, Solar Power, will include 34 sites each having 6 MW production capabilities in places of Northeastern Thailand. The solar farms with a total installation capacity of 204 MW when completed will generate enough electricity to supply 170,000 average Thai homes every year. Solar Power, the planner of the project will build the installations and manage the production. The power produced from the facility will be transferred to the grids of Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand (PEA), a utility company from the country for further distribution of the generated power.

Ms. Wandee Khunchornyakong, Solar Power’s President, said that her company has chosen Kyocera solar modules for their proven quality and reliability and nearly 35 years of exposure to the solar industry to deliver the gains of solar power to the residents of Thailand.
