EDF Energies Expands Wind Energy Portfolio in Greece with Commissioning of 46 MW Wind Projects

EDF Energies Nouvelles continue to expand its operations in the Europe with its wind farm installations. The company has recently commissioned its Fokida 2 and Fokida 3 wind farms, each with a power generation capability of 23 MW.

The two wind farms, with 10 wind turbines each, are located few kilometers away from each other in the central part of Greece. The wind turbines installed in the wind farm are supplied by Enercon, a German wind turbine manufacturing company. The Fokida 2 wind farm was commissioned in September 2010 and generating power since then. EDF Energies Nouvelles group owns 97.8% of Fokida 2 and Fokida 3 wind projects through its Greek subsidiary company, EDF En Greece.

The company, during last March, has commissioned the operations of its Skopies wind farm with a power production capability of 18 MW. The company is operating in Greece since 2005, and so far has commissioned 10 wind projects with a total power generation capability of 251.4 MW. The company is also engaged in other green energy sectors such as marine energy, biofuel, biomass, biogas, and small sized hydro power plants.
