The Rio Rancho High School located in Rio Rancho; New Mexico now sports a new 50 kW solar photovoltaic power system jointly completed by SCHOTT Solar PV and Consolidated Solar Technologies (CST), an Albuquerque-based company.
The students of the school wrote more than 75 letters to the state authorities stressing the importance of the project and played a vital role in securing the funds from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to complete the project.
The solar photovoltaic system for the school was installed by CST, a system integrating company from Albuquerque, with a number of years of experience in performing electrical designs for big-sized commercial holdings. The solar installation incorporates over 200 patented SCHOTT POLY solar modules manufactured by SCHOTT Solar that are designed to generate high level energy. The solar power generated by the solar system will allow the school to save over $20,000 every year by cutting down its spending on electric power usage. The Rio Rancho school project is the third such school project jointly completed by SCHOTT Solar and CST.
According to Alfred Sena, the Public Schools Executive Director of Facilities, the school was looking for implementing solar power by installing quality high power producing solar modules through a proven installer. They zeroed in on Consolidated Solar Technologies for designing and completing the installation of solar modules and chose SCHOTT Solar modules to complete the project. The installation while allowing the school to generate clean solar energy for its use has also assisted the state by creating more renewable energy job positions.
