WindMade, the first ever worldwide consumer tag for identifying wind energy products and wind energy companies, has come about with the initiative and support of the WWF, Global Wind Energy Council, UN Global Compact, LEGO group, and Vestas Wind Systems.
Bloomberg has agreed to remain the official data supplier to WindMade while PricewaterhouseCoopers will function as the Official WindMade Verification Partner. The WindMade startup will answer the long standing demand of the customers for green energy products. Steve Sawyer, Global Wind Energy Council’s Secretary General, has become short-term CEO of WindMade.
The WindMade syndicate is planning to rope-in well known and important wind brands as members of the group and allow them to incorporate WindMade label in their products and correspondences. The member companies will endure a certification process to validate their equipment. A technical experts committee chosen for the purpose is currently developing the certification process. The group anticipates such validating drive will enable the growth of a number of wind power generation plants.
The new WindMade proposal will be introduced with additional information for the benefit and agreement of the founder members, in the World Economic Forum, which is to take place in Davos on 28th January. The event is anticipated to attract participation by top level management from well known wind energy companies and others who are interested in wind energy products. WindMade is planning to have a public discussion on the proposed certification standards from March 2011.This issuing of WindMade tag is expected to be handled by a not for profit organization that is committed to increasing the usage of clean energy.
