Toshiba Hydro Power (Hangzhou), a Chinese subsidiary of Toshiba and a joint venture with the China-based Sinohydro, has received an order to deliver two 667MVA hydroelectric generators for the Guanyinyang hydropower station being developed in Yunnan Province, China.
China Datang’s subsidiary, Datang Guanyinyang Hydro Power Development, has awarded the contract.
According to the agreement, Toshiba Hydro Power is slated to supply the generators in 2014. The hydropower facility is anticipated to start commercial production during the middle of 2015.
Toshiba Hydro Power is supplying its first 600MVA class generators since its recent expansion of machining and assembly shop to increase the production of 600MVA class generators and turbines. These generators will incorporate coils with 20-kV voltage, the highest value for hydroelectric generators. The company has recently constructed a research facility for evaluating turbine models.
Toshiba Hydro Power has supplied nearly 100 generators and turbines, mostly to Chinese facilities since its inception in January 2005. The company is providing production, selling and maintenance services for hydropower producing equipment.
