Turanor PlanetSolar Ship Circumnavigates World to Propagate Solar Energy

Turanor PlanetSolar, the large sized boat powered by solar energy that commenced its world tour four months back from Monaco, has now reached the Galapagos Islands away from the coast of Ecuador.

The Swiss-possessed boat measures 31 meters in length and incorporates nearly 530 square meters of solar panels to power the functions of the boat. Raphael Domjan, who has established the PlanetSolar project, said that the solar boat provides favorable chances to help the people to understand how renewable clean energy can be extensively used. He added that with the expertise and technology to exploit, the use of renewable energy can be demonstrated to the people the ways it can be utilized.

Frenchman, Patrick Marchesseau, the captain of the boat said that Galapagos can adopt the usage of renewable energy that is utilized to power the solar ship. The boat is anticipated to complete it’s around the world trip by the end of 2012.
