Pattern Energy Sets Up Operations Control Center in Houston

Pattern Energy declared that it has set up a new advanced Operations Control Center at Houston, Texas, to monitor  wind energy projects.

The control center, which is designed to work 24 hours a day and all the 365 days in a year will monitor the operations of wind turbines, coordinate with the functions and provide directions for their operation.

The new Operations Control Center works 24/7 and deploys latest computer systems, patented advanced type of software, qualified and skilled wind power generation operators to regularly monitor and manage all the features such as wind speed, energy generation and oil levels of wind turbines located at wind projects managed by Pattern. The integrated dynamic video wall measuring six feet by 20 feet at the control center shows live feeds from 32 individual sources. The sophisticated computer system processes the data received from each wind turbine project and offers project statistical coverage and in-depth analysis. The software also analyzes the performance of the wind turbines by matching it with the key performance indicators to supply data on wind turbine, substation, maintenance, metrological, regulator and security while providing alert to the technicians in the event of any observed changes in performance or in any other aspects of the wind farm.

The center also functions like a focal point of Pattern’s operations to provide scheduling, issuing market notifications and the communication exchanges to and from Pattern Energy. The functional team located in Houston will work in close cooperation with the operators and maintenance people at onsite locations of each of the wind turbine projects. Presently the monitoring center supervises the operations of over 220 wind turbines located all over North America.
