SCHOTT Solar a Mainz, Germany-based company, has emerged successfully in the PV+ tests carried out by TÜV Rheinland and Solarpraxis, a solar energy knowledge disseminating company.
The test performed over SCHOTT Poly 290, a double-glass solar photovoltaic module, has been assessed as very good.
Solarpraxis and TÜV Rheinland, a technical services offering company, have united together to formulate an independent seal of quality to verify the standards in the manufacture of solar PV modules. According to Wilhelm Vaaßen, TÜV Rheinland’s head of Regenerative Energies, some of the certified modules available in the market are not manufactured observing the specified certification standards and often produce well below the optimum quality of energy mentioned. The lacuna has prompted the companies to develop a certificate system as an extra measure for checking the quality of the modules.
For the purpose of testing the modules accurately and to avoid influencing of results, the tests were carried out on the modules that were bought anonymously from the market. A total of eight manufacturers modules were tested for their performance, age defying quality, electrical safety, quality of production, module assembly quality, and available guarantee. The SCHOTT Poly 290 solar PV modules withstood all the tests successfully.
