Ontario Expected to Generate More Renewable Energy Jobs

The new joint venture between Celestica and Recurrent Energy, an auxiliary company of Sharp Corporation, is anticipated to bring in around 300 jobs in the production line and around 2,000 construction job positions in Ontario Canada.

The two companies have entered into a partnership accord to produce solar components at the manufacturing facility owned by Celestica in Toronto. The components produced from the production facility will be utilized in the new solar projects to be built by the companies in the province.

The energy plan ‘Building Our Clean Energy Future’ envisaged and introduced by Ontario has received over $16 billion as investment from the private sector. Around 20 institutions have declared their intention to set up new clean energy production plants or expand their current operations in Ontario. Ontario currently has over 2,900 solar projects functioning and feeding their power into the grid. Ontario has already shut down its pollution causing eight coal power generating plants and has decided to close all the units by the year 2014.

The province is planning to generate over 10,700 MW of clean renewable energy by the year 2018, which is enough to meet the power requirements of around two million homes.
