Magnolia Solar Makes Multiple Number of Patent Filings Related to Thin Film Solar Cell Technologies

Magnolia Solar declared that its fully owned subsidiary company with the similar name Magnolia Solar has finished the initial requirements of its intellectual property protection plan.

During last year, Magnolia Solar  made a number of international Patent Corporation Treaty (PCT) and utility patent applications. The first batch of patent applications calls for the benefits of an interim application filed by the company in January 2010.

The patent applications filed by the company  last year describes a number of innovative improvements in designs and processes in the production of photovoltaic solar cell device. The technologies associated with the patent applications deal with the basic barriers that prevents the performance of the existing thin film solar cells. The practical application deployed in the patent-pending technology is contrived to augment the PV operating voltage while achieving large scale solar band. Also the exclusive nanostructure-based optical covering cuts-down the reflection deprivations thus allowing increased level of light capturing within the PV instruments. The technologies have resulted in the increased level of energy conversion and electrical output from thin film solar cells.

According to Dr. Ashok K Sood, Magnolia Solar Corporation’s President and CEO, the innovative technologies protected under the patent applications of the company have both commercial and military usages. He explained that the company wants to gain considerable benefits out of its ten year licensing accord with Magnolia Optical Technologies, which is formulating a new nanostructure know-how meant for both military and business usages.
