AU Optronics Develops Efficient Mono-Crystalline PV Module

AU Optronics (AUO), a leading global low-carbon manufacturer of TFT-LCD panels, has developed a PV module that has the world's highest efficiency.

AUO’s SunForte PM318B00 PV module demonstrates a conversion rate of up to 19.5%. AUO plans to showcase the mono-crystalline PM318B00 PV module at the 2011 SNEC 5th International Photovoltaic Power Generation Exhibition & Conference.

The SunForte PM318B00 PV module provides a 40% higher output than that of other conventional modules. The product can withstand moisture and corrosion due to salt, and is suitable for implementation in coastal, humid areas. AUO has targeted the PV module for urban areas that have small rooftops.

AUO has acquired M.Setek and has also entered into a joint venture with SunPower. In Tanjin, the company has established a high-efficiency 1GW PV plant with U.S. Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. AUO intends to complete construction, as well as equipment installation by the end of 2011.

AUO promotes carbon footprint verification and is developing innovative R&D technologies to reduce carbon footprints and total CO2 emissions. AUO’s EcoDuo PM220P00 module is the first PV module in the world to pass the PAS2050 carbon footprint verification.
