Solar System Installed on Roof of Fox’s Historic Building

Solar Power has designed and built a photovoltaic solar electric generation system of 160 kW capacity for the Twentieth Century Fox Film at Century City in California.

160 kW Solar System

The project utilizes the SkyMount commercial roof top system developed by Solar Power in combination with traditional racking. This renewable energy project, a major investment in solar by Fox, was initiated back in April.

The installation of 160 kW photovoltaic  solar systems represents Fox Film’s maiden venture into electricity generation using solar energy. The building’s barrel shaped roof architecture has been enhanced with the erection of the SkyMount racking system in combination with traditional racking systems on a standing beam. The installation of the rooftop system, built for Fox’s historic Building 99, has played a vital role in laying the foundation for the company’s global energy initiatives.

Steve Kircher, CEO of Solar Power stated that the energy savings and environmental benefits delivered by this system are numerous.

Senior Vice President of Operations at Fox Studios, Hal Haenal, stated that this project has played a key role in initiating their company’s commitment to sustainability.
