The Southern California Honda Dealers Association, have announced another helpful program, this one committed to the environment. Beginning today, the Honda Helpful Guys + Girls in Blue are going green by distributing eco- friendly, reusable tote bags at farmers markets, grocery stores and recycling stations in various cities across Southern California to help encourage residents to do their part in caring for the environment. In addition, the Southern California Honda Dealers are working in association with the Arbor Day Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. The program aims to plant several thousand trees during the month of April, in an effort to replenish the 350,000 acres lost to fires in 2007.
For every tote bag distributed, the Southern California Honda Dealers will plant a tree in the recipient's name. Individuals who receive one of the tote bags can go online to socalhonda.com and enter the special code printed on the bag's hangtag in the appropriate section on the homepage. Each recipient is given the opportunity to help spread the seeds by passing along their hangtag or forwarding the information to friends and family.
"We are extremely excited to spread this program across Southern California as part of the Honda Helpful campaign," said Patrick Adams, managing director, Secret Weapon Marketing. "As one of the most fuel efficient car companies in America, we're thrilled to begin helping the environment in one more way."
"We are grateful for the Southern California Honda Dealers' commitment to planting trees," said John Rosenow, chief executive officer, Arbor Day Foundation. "Their generous contribution helps to restore wildlife habitat, clean the air, and protect soil and waterways that will benefit Americans for years to come."
The Southern California Honda Helpful campaign is a multi-layered advertising and marketing philosophy that launched in January 2007. Extending beyond traditional TV, radio, and outdoor methods, the campaign demonstrates, firsthand, the Southern California Honda Dealers' commitment to being Helpful. Since the campaign's inception, the Helpful Guys and Girls in Blue have been assisting Southern Californians everywhere: they've been seen distributing ice cold bottled water; helping customers carry heavy packages; holding doors open for people at coffee shops; visiting lifeguard posts and fire stations with lunch and coffee; and during the rainy season, they have umbrellas on hand to keep people dry. They've also been "Helping the Helpful" by visiting soup kitchens, Salvation Army locations and food banks.
