GT Solar Announces Order for Sapphire Crystallization Furnaces

GT Solar International is a worldwide supplier of sapphire and silicon crystalline growth systems and polysilicon production technology and other materials for LED, solar and other specialized markets.

The company declared that it has obtained an order worth above $41 million dollars for the supply of its advanced sapphire crystallization furnaces. This order happens to be the fourth order the company has received in the recent months for the supply of its sapphire crystallization furnaces.

The crystallization process technology of GT Solar and its worldwide support facilities enables the sapphire manufacturing processes to be productive and profitable. The new furnace ordered by the company is designed to manufacture 85 kilogram boules. GT Solar in its recent third quarter report has declared its plans to augment the advanced sapphire furnace output capability to 100 kilograms per cycle. The scalability option will enable the client to upgrade the capability of the furnace for improved output and higher level of profit margins.

According to Tom Gutierrez, President and CEO of GT Solar, there is a growing interest among the new companies in the production of sapphire materials meant for LED type of high brightness applications. The sapphire crystallization furnace will offer easy to adjust and dependable type of design to enable the companies to attempt high volume production of inexpensive, large area sapphire substrates.
