McPhy Energy, a company that supplies solid hydrogen storage expertise, declared that it has contracted an accord with Iwatani, a hydrogen supplying company to provide a solution to store 4 kg of solid hydrogen.
Earlier Iwatani had met the officials of McPhy Energy at the 2010 International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Expo held in Tokyo Japan. The experts of Iwatani have assessed the performance of the system by making visits to the installations at the CNRS and CEA research institutions in France.
The proposed McPhy system will allow the storing of hydrogen in the shape of magnesium hydrides without the need of compressing them thus facilitating a secure, reversible hydrogen storage solution with improved energy efficiency. McPhy will establish the total system for the use of an industrial hydrogen storage facility owned by Iwatani in Japan
According to a spokesman from Iwatani, the McPhy solid hydrogen storage solution from McPhy energy provides a convincing solution to most of the crucial demands of the business. The secure, cost-effective and dependable supply of hydrogen will allow the company to lead the hydrogen-hungry Japanese markets.
