Ameresco’s energy efficiency upgrades for four schools in the district, namely the New Paltz Middle School, New Paltz High School, Duzine Elementary School and Lenape Elementary School would save the district an amount of $258,461 every year.
Maria C. Rice, who is the Superintendent of the New Paltz Central School District, stated that New Paltz District was always focused on Environmental Stewardship and the long term partnership would accumulate a huge amount of money as savings, which could be applied on other school activities. Further they would also be a valuable teaching aid for the students, staff and parents with respect to energy efficiency.
After approval is obtained from the New York State Education Department (SED), the $4million program would supply energy efficiency upgraded systems to the four schools without any upfront capital investments from either the school district or the tax payers.
