SCHOTT Solar PV along with Consolidated Solar Technologies (CST) have jointly launched a 50 kW PV solar installation at Dulce High School.
This would be the fourth system in the state, which is to be financed by a grant, which uses the funds from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA), established in 2009. The solar system would use over 200 Albuquerque made SCHOTT POLY solar modules, all ground mounted and achieve a savings of $15,000 on a yearly basis. The Dulce Independent Schools are located on the Jicarilla Apache Nation reservation and has three high-tech learning facilities. The reservation is one of the 15 school districts, which have been chosen via a competitive grant process in the process.
According to James Lesher, who is the Superintendent of Dulce Independent Schools, it was essential to have a partner who is committed to providing high quality solar components, as both the Jicarilla Apache Nation and Dulce had been focused on solar education projects for the past ten years. He further added that to team up with CST for their construction and system design and with SCHOTT for superior quality solar panels would further Dulce’s goals. The solar array would be incorporated using an interactive and real-time monitoring software system into classes such as calculus, physics and engineering. The Dulce High School had already installed another solar array in 1999, which helps the community, teachers and students to monitor the installation’s electricity generation, again through a Department of Energy grant.
