DHL, a global logistics company, declared that their Global Forwarding division in collaboration with Lumeta and Daniel’s Electric, have provided solar power to the Banning High School located in Banning, California.
Global Forwarding division of DHL has managed the ocean freight of the 220 PowerPly building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar modules from Shanghai, cleared the customs and delivered the modules at the school site. Daniel’s Electric, a solar installation company, has installed the PowerPly modules supplied by Lumeta over the 35,000 square rooftop area of the school building in three days time. The solar installation will generate 88 kW of power.
The Lumeta PowerPly modules utilized in the installation has more advantages than the conventional type of rack mounted solar panels over roof tops. The low weight modules will reduce the load over the roof and can be installed without penetrations over the roof, and finally the mono-crystalline solar cells are known for higher level of power production. The peel and fix type of light weight modules has reduced the installation costs to a larger extent.
The school building in addition to installing the solar panels for renewable power generation will also be fitted with effective air-conditioning and heating units, double glass windows and improved insulation. The school is expected to receive the CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools) certificate.
