New Jersey Resources (NJR), energy and natural gas services providing company, has declared that it will be contracting its 150th client for its Sunlight Advantage solar lease program.
The company has earlier enrolled 100 clients under its pilot program announced in March 2010. On 26th January 2011, the company has launched the expansion of its earlier program under the brand name The Sunlight Advantage.
The Sunlight Advantage is a residential solar lease program provided by NJR that installs crystalline solar modules over the rooftops of the selected home owners. The 6 kW solar system installed will cost the home owner around $59 as lease cost for a period of 20 years and vary according the term of lease period. The monthly rates charged from such clients include installation and maintenance charges. The 6 kW system will allow the clients to save over $100 on payment towards electric power and over $20,000 during the life time of the system operation. The current Sunlight Advantage program is aimed to provide affordable solar power to the 350 clients.
To avail The Sunlight Advantage program of NJR, it is ideal to have south-facing roofs to achieve maximum sun energy, though houses with east and west facing roofs may also qualify for the program. The roof locations chosen for installation must be clear of shading from nearby tall structures or trees and the roof structure should not be replaced during the lease period of 20 years.
