Enel Green Power Announces Purchase of Agatos Green Power San Gillio

Enel Green Power, declared that it has entered into an accord with Agatos Energia to purchase 80% interest in the ‘Agatos Green Power San Gillio, located in the city of San Gillio in Turin province, which currently carries out an authorized solar photovoltaic program.

The proposed solar plant will have a capacity of 4.8 MW to produce more than 5.7 million kWh of clean power every year. The power generated by the plant every year is enough to meet the electricity requirements of over 2,100 houses and will offset around 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide discharges.

The company is continually making its presence felt in the solar PV sector by establishing a number of new plants and installation sites from the fag end of last year to the beginning of 2011. A 5 MW PV plant was also launched in collaboration with Sharp in Serragiumenta, situated in the province of Cosenza and completed its installation. The company has completed installation of a 1 MW solar PV plant in Deruta, which is located in the province of Perugia. Recently, the company announced the completion of a 3 MW roof top solar system installed for the Marcegaglia group, which utilized thin film solar technology. Enel is in the process of completing a 2.5 MW solar PV plant in Strambino situated in the Turin province.

The company will be doubling the installed capability of its Serre Persano plant, located in Caserta province, to 6.6 MW, and building a 9 MW PV plant in Adrano close to Catania. The company is in the process of completing the erection of a 25 MW rooftop solar PV system over the CIS-Interporto Campano’s buildings located in Nola, close to Naples.
